Aquamarine (Gemstone)

Aquamarine Gemstone is a member of the beryl family. its name means  "the blue water of the sea", Aqua means ‘water’ and marine means ‘of the sea’. Aquamarine is popular by its unique color that ranges from an almost colorless pale blue to blue-green or teal.

Aquamarine has a special name in India and that is: ‘Beruj’ which is a trade name for it. It's composite of Beryllium, aluminum and silicate. Its hardness according to the Mohs scale is: 7.5-8.

The most desirable and valuable color of it  is the deep-blue aqua color , as the most valuable aquamarine gemstones come from Brazil but can also be found in Afghanistan, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia., Sri Lanka, , Tanzania and Zambia.

This gem was formerly used by the Greeks to make e jewelry as sailors believed that this gem would protect them from the raging sea and ensure a safe return.
